Topic tags/keywords: question

That season is just around the corner. I love to give gifts from my workshop each year. It’s so much more personal than something bought from the local mall and I have fun doing it. I’m just wondering if any fellow LJ’s are planning to make Christmas gifts this year? If so have you decided what you’re making?

Rolling pins, cutting boards, dressers, night stands, toy box and a dinning room table.
Pins are done.
Still thinking on the cutting boards (end grain or side grain?).
I started on the dressers and night stands.
Table will be a first for me….it’s still in the design stage.

Band saw boxes … finished 6 of them Saturday.

Also considering making a bunch of ‘Little Tables’ (American Woodworker Oct/Nov 2010 issue).

I’m planning on making a Tangram puzzle for my nephew. I’d like to make a couple of other wooden puzzles/games for him too but my wife has me working on tables and an entertainment center for the basement, and there’s that jeweler’s bench I still need to finish, so I think my plate is pretty full.

I haven’t thought about it. It is not December 23rd yet!

Ornaments, Painted Skating Pond set, other painted and scrollsawn items like boxes, plaques, etc. I like to make most of my gifts for people. I think they like them and I like to make stuff that they will use and will be personal to each recipient. I start early because they take a lot of time but I love every minute of making them!

I love seeing all the ideas here too! The guitar is awesome!!!

Makes the season FUN!! :) Sheila

I will be making a bunch of end grain cutting boards. They seem to be a very popular gift.

I’m thinking about making some very traditional boxes with hand cut dovetails out of cherry.

A turned ring bowl for LOML (Specific requrest). A band saw butterfly wall ornament for my mom. On top of that we are refinishing a used crib, and doing a mess of home improvements including sheet rock, trim, paint and new fixtures in the guest bath, and replacing a bad ceiling fan and overhead fixture in the kitchen.
