Topic tags/keywords: sharpening

I am new to tool sharpening and I need some help. I picked up a few old Stanley planes at a flea marked and I have no clue on sharpening the blades. Whatever help you can lend will be appreciated.

Thanks

You can find some good videos on Youtube that cover it well .

There are fixtures you can buy to set the blade to the correct angle to use with a whetstone. Plane blades can also be sharpened with a surface grinder with a jig.

Good luck

Well. First of all you can click on your Tag “sharpening” that will bring up Dozens of Posts on here about Sharpening”.

As Jerry said there are “Piles” of them on You Tube. The one below is one of them. On the right side there will be “Piles” More. You can probably find one that will suit your Personal Needs.

The one below is kind of Funny. At the start they say “English Sub-Titles”. So I figured the guy was speaking some sort of Foreign Language. NOPE! English! Go Figure.

AND! This guy is FAST and Not a Wet Stone in sight! My kind of Sharpening!

IF the Video shows up you can go directly to You Tube by clicking anywhere on the Video.

Hope it’s of some help. Rick
