Just a little while back, I was visiting my local wood monger when I overheard another customer making arrangements to pick up his new band saw, which happened to be the very model I wanted. I joked with the counter person about loading it into my vehicle when he mentioned I might want to get while the gettin’ is good. I told him I wasn’t planning on buying until maybe in the fall but he explained that the manufacturer is going to start charging them freight, so when they sell their current stock and reorder, the price will go up by $200 or more. So what does Brett do? He buys a new band saw.

They had mobile bases on back order, so I decided to buy online. It arrived a couple of days ago and I put her together last night after work. I got as far as installing and tracking the blade before calling it quits for the night. It hums quite nicely, I must say. Woohoo!

Nice – congrats! I just bought one of these myself! Sooo much better than the Rikon I had.

Glad to see you got the saw…can you please let us know what you think of the ceramic blade guide set up??? Very interested in how it works out from someone that owns the saw.

Thanks, everyone. Not that it hasn’t been a great little saw, within its limitations, I’m excited about the upgrade over my Craftsman/Rikon benchtop model.

I haven’t gotten that far yet but as I setup, tune, and try the saw out, I’ll certainly share.

Just got done with final setup and tuning and made some test cuts. Adjusting the ceramic guides was a snap. I used the “dollar trick” and was done in minutes. Of course, I had to square the table to the blade and the fence to the table but I didn’t have to adjust the fence for drift at all. I was even able to duplicate a task Laguna posted on on Facebook yesterday: taking a 1/32” slice off a piece of walnut. I had to try it. I just happened to have a scrap of walnut about 2” wide and took a slice off the face. Bingo. 1/32nd of an inch. I do need a better blade, so I think a Resaw King is in my future.

I bought a new Grizzly 555 anniversary edition, the black one about a year ago, and haven’t used it. I set it up an made a couple of cuts and that’s it. I was thinking of selling it but I just started a project where I need to resaw some black walnut for inlays. I’ll finally see if it’s any good or not. I need to saw some 1×6 boards to about 3/16”. Don’t know how that will turn out, but if it does it will save a lot of walnut.

That’s a beauty, for sure. I haven’t done any wing shooting in decades but I’ve been thinking about taking up sporting clays and would like an over/under for that.
