Hey, New to the forums. I ran across this rigid planer for what seems to be a decent deal. I have not seen it in person yet but the seller cannot find a model number. Blades look bad. He will sell It to me for $100.

My question is: is it worth it? , Does it seem all there, and any idea which model this is?

Thank you for any input.

Looks like a RIDGID R4300 Home Depot sells RIDGID). The dust shroud is missing, and it will not run without it due to a mechanical lock-out. This model is discontinued. FWIW, I have and use this model. IMO, buy the newer replacement model “new”

The newer version is the R4331 for $369.
Replacement blades are ~$30 for a 3-pak.

OLD R4300 discontinued:

I was able to go look at it today. It is a R4300. I almost got it but…It definitely needs blades and on one blade the torx are rusted pretty good. If for some reason they strip out I’m possibly looking at a new head Which is probably a $100 or so by itself. The repeat a cut was seized up. There are too many unknowns. Its hard to pass at $100 and if it wasn’t rusted up I may have gotten it but I think I’m going to hold out and take a good look at the Dewalt DW734 or the never Ridgid. Thanks for your input.

I have the R4330. Looks just like it, and I’m really happy with it. Been using it for 3 years, and I am just now needing to flip the blades. I agree, too many issues with the one you are looking at. That cutter head on e replacement is $159.00. By the time you buy replacement parts, you might as well buy a new one. Home Depot has the R4331 for $369.00.
