Hi All I would like to get a scroll saw for marquetry, and wonder if variable speed is a must . I could get my hand on a hegner 14” but it is single speed. thanks for comments Martin -- Martin, Gatineau, Québec |

What kind of deal are you getting on the Hegner? If it is a good price, I would leap on it. As far as variable speed, I like having it on my scroll saw. One work around might be to look into variable speed controls for single speed motors. They make them for routers and I have heard people use foot speed switches on their scroll saws, so you might not have to sacrifice the variable speed feature to get your Hegner.
