Just discovered this site recently, and I have to say I am addicted, and very impressed by how much information is shared here.
I’m an amateur woodworker in my mid 30’s, recently inherited what could be considered a full shop from my dear departed father, containing tools from my grandfather as well.
Everything from ancient block planes, spoke shaves and wood hewing tools, right up to pretty modern equipment my father acquired after he retired and had time to put into his favorite craft.

I just wanted to say hello, and hopefully I can learn and share at the same time and you all can follow along as I try to create new pieces, restore old ones, and generally try to apply what I learned from my father, and from all of you here.

Here is a desk drawer I recently built to replace a missing one on a friends “art” desk.
The desk is made of oak, and is going to be completely refinished.

I was able to make a decent oak drawer from some stock that my father had milled (he did the hard part, thanks dad) and I put some modern drawer slides on it.
I was able to match it up with the original drawer opening with a little bit of work, and I think it will last as long as the rest of the desk. :)
I even managed to make a removable felt liner for the drawer bottom, not pictured.
Sorry for the poor cell phone photos, it won’t happen again I promise.

Welcome to Lj’s.
Yes this site is very addictive and gets worse over time!
You are very fortunate to have inherited all of your fathers/grandfathers tools and even better actually appreciate them for what they are.
Enjoy and remember

make lots of sawdust
