Topic tags/keywords: mdf drawers drawer slides cabinet

I’ve made some closet space in an attic kneewall. So far it’s just open cabinets made of 1/2” MDF, but I’d like to put some drawers in some of them. The drawers would be 30” wide and 24” deep. Would the MDF be able to hold this? Or do I need to brace it somehow? And if so, how? What type of material would you recommend for the drawers?

Thanks,

tiksi

that mainly depends on your cabinet construction. 30” is pretty wide for drawers which may result in excessive weight that the MDF may not be able to support. do you have pics or the cabinet? or drawing?

I agree, 30” is wide. I don’t usually like to push drawers wider than 25.” What kind of slides will you be using?
