Hello Everyone,

I am an experienced furniture maker looking to gain more skills. I live in the UK and I wish to visit Japan for a sabbatical.

I am looking into finding a place in Japan that offers courses in either plane(kanna) making or something similar which is part of there heritage in woodworking. Or even a general woodworking course run by a maker.

I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

Hope you can help me

You're going to need to learn to google in Japanese to find one. Those old masters do not give any f*cks about the internet and likely aren't advertising to rando Anglo's.

My suggestion is that you google what you are looking for, but add NHK to the google search. NHK is the Japanese public broadcasting and NHK World broadcasts in most countries. They have a fine array of programing centered on crafts-people of Japan. "Journeys In Japan" is one show that does this often. I would pour through those vids on youtube until you find one (and there are some) that talk about the sort of guys your looking for, then google those people specifically until you get the info you're after.
