Topic tags/keywords: question

I am new member. I have been looking for a long time for a retor100 year old capture nut for a double right handed thread, one inch diameter wood working vise with a odd thread that looks like variant of Stub acme made by Ohio Tool of Columbus, Ohio. Low and behold it has been on the site since October 2016. Unfortunately it has been sold. I have asked several fabricating shops to consider duplicating the capture nut as I have the screw, but the retort has been: “You do not want to even think about how much it would cost” I have thought about casting it out of JB Weld etc making a mold from the matching screw but this appears to be beyond my skills. Do any members possibly have suggestions or own such a capture nut in good condition. I would be pleased to pay a good price and the shipping. I might consider using a 3D printer but this is also beyond my skills.

Thanks

Do you have a local community college where they teach machining? That may be a good place to work out a deal with either staff or students whom may want to take on a challenge.
