I know readers of FWW have seen the ad for online membership and the offer of free monthly offers. I joined and waited for my Sketch-up plan for the ‘Dovetail Toolbox Plan’. Well after 3 months and no plans or any thing else, I canceled the membership. I had sent Emails the them and no reply. So, I was wondering if anyone here has the plan? Or if it was ever in the magazine?

I signed up, but I don’t remember any thing about a plan.

It may be that you have to log in and then download it yourself. FWW is a strange site sometimes and the internet version of it has gone downhill recently. Try logging in and then searching for the plan and try to download it. It could be on the commercial side of the site in the plans they charge for.

Can you provide more information about the name of the plan? I’ll see if I might have it.

Sketch-up plan for a Dovetail Toolbox. If you have a FWW issue for the last year you will see in there. Its on the sign-up page for the on-line membership.

I think you must be referring to the Taunton plans they’re selling for $12.95 here:

I don’t see it was ever an article in their magazine nor is it available as a down-loadable plan on their site. They used it as a come-on and I’m sorry to hear they never came through. I think you’re going to have to find someone who bought it and is willing to share it, but of course that’s pirating.

I dropped my FWW sub and the online sub I had. Frankly did not feel I was getting that much out of it for the price. I do better with Wood and Popular Woodworking. Just me.

I think araldite has it right. I would go to the FWW homepage and at the bottom right corner is a “Customer Service” link. I would contact them through that link giving them all the details and see what happens. Although I think it unlikely they will provide the plan to you, it might clarify the circumstances for you. Taunton Press is a very commercialized operation and they tend to be overpriced for many things. I do subscribe to the print magazine and the website just for access to many back articles. At less than $2 a month, I waste more on other things than this one. But I don’t use it frequently except to get the On-Line extras for the print magazine plus some historical information. I certainly wouldn’t spend $12.95 for that plan.

Have your say...
