Topic tags/keywords: search function

I was wondering if there is a way to search for things (like projects) with pictures? When you search for a project you get a huge list of descriptions of each project, which means you have to click on each description to see what it is, what it looks like, etc, etc. Maybe I’m missing something, and there is a way, but i’m not seeing it, if there is. Just thought I’d ask.

And if there isn’t…(Martin)...is this possibly a feature in the making?? Thanks

If you know what you’re looking for, you can search using tags.

Yes. Click on the projects tab at the upper left corner, just below the logo. You’ll be on the page with the most recent projects. Down the left side of the screen there will be a list of about 20 common tags, and below that is a link titled “view more tags”. Click on one of the tags, or the link. If you click on the link, you’ll see a whole screen full of tags, plus a search box at the top where you can search for any tag you like.

it is good, but you will likely miss a lot of projects. I think tags were only implemented about a year ago, so old projects probably don’t have tags.

Thanks guys. I didn’t know this either. But, I’d still like to see the projects search show pictures instead of a description etc.

I would too, Cranesgonewild. If someone doesnt tag their project correctly you could miss it. I think the search engine should have photos!

The search engine for lumberjocks is google powered, so you only get what they are offering. It’s not really able to be customized to show images.

Tags were implemented from the start but I agree that you may miss some projects because not everybody is using them properly.

You can always use google image search to search just LJ projects section. Here's a sample query for the'workbench' term. I’m thinking of replacing custom google search we are using now with the direct linking to normal google search engine because it has far more features than what they offer to 3rd party websites.
