Topic tags/keywords: wood help questin tip Ok guys I need some help. While I was home on R&R my father-in-law intrduced me to Intarsia. I love it my issue is now that im back at Fort Riley, KS I am haveing a hard time finding a place to get the woods I need for my projects. I tryed to google it but I mostly get blanks, 4×4’s, or stuff thats just too thick for my needs. Thanks for any help. |

Hey Mike, I got a couple of deals on mixed species cutoff selections on Ebay. Paid 10 bucks for a flat rate box of all kinds of stuff that will be perfect for Intarsia. Give it a look, I see that stuff on there all the time. -- Mike |

Buddy I know a guy here in Glasgow who makes furniture . The offcuts perfect for intarsia projects are given to me freely by the sackfull by him.Anyway why am I telling you this Michael me young chap ? because you will almost certainly live near such a place in your district and do the same.Good Luck from Alistair in Scotland p.s. Sorry you’re having such a hard time finding wood. If you have access to a band saw or table saw you can rip thick pieces down to what you want. You can buy select pine and cedar, oak and stain the pieces. Be sure to use a fine grit on the final sand and use a prestain. -- Terri, Rocky Mountain High Colorado! |
