Well, if you have been holding off buying one of these, Woodcraft has the Wixey gauge (#146096) on sale for $39.99 from August 28 thru September 25.

Just my luck, I bought one a month ago at the regular price.

I’ve got one of these on my Grizzly Planer. I needed to make a custom mount to mount it.

This gauge is made to fit on planers where the base is stationary and the cutter head raises up and down.

On my 20” Grizzly planer, The cutter head is stationary and the planer surface is what is raised and lowered. It required me to make a mount for the stationary part of the gauge and one for the lifting part.

But all of that said. It’s cool planing a board to .750 or .781 and then when you need another piece for something you follow the reading on the scale and plane another board to the same thickness.

It makes woodworking fun. Well that is not all that makes it fun, It just makes it funner.

I am amazed at the accuracy! A board planed to a set thickness and then checked with another gauge- the two read identically the same value.

Does anyone have experience using this on a Delta 22-580? I read a review stating they had a little trouble.
Thanks
