I have a saw I am fixing up and I know how nice a good fence can be.

Looking at the Very Super Cool Tools website, they show how to make a Biesemeyer compatible fence rail and they sell a fence that takes an 80/20 section aluminum rail.

It is a very nice system but expensive.

I have been thinking about it and want to make an all aluminum version with a few differences/improvements.

If it works out well I am thinking of doing a small production run to recoup my costs and maybe make a little money because I am between jobs right now.

It’s not a problem I have right now, but an
aftermarket euro-style fence for sliding table
saws would be useful to some people.

I looked into the VSCT solution for my Tannewitz
JS slider (an old machine) but was able to
get an extra iron part to make use of the original
fence.

My T-square will be a bolted aluminum bar stock piece, no welding, no paint.

The critical surfaces will be machined but otherwise the aluminum will be left with its mill finish (they will be wiped down with acetone but no extraordinary measures will be used to remove scratches or labeling). Aluminum rapidly oxidizes when freshly cut creating a hard layer that is relatively impervious to the elements and it will look nice enough. Owners in especially humid areas may want to paint it.

The square will be machined to create as close to a 90° angle as possible but it will be adjustable in the Biesemeyer style to align it with the table.

The 80/20 fence extrusion will attach in a similar manner to the VSC fence but with a machined key to locate the extrusion on the square so the angle will change very little when you change out rails.

All threads in aluminum will have solid steel threaded inserts to prevent stripping and provide maximum strength.

The fence extrusion and T-square will ride on UHMW and nylon slides and the Biesemeyer style rail should have a layer of packing tape on it to create a very smooth bearing surface. Extra nylon slides will be provided should they ever wear beyond a usable amount.

Adjustment of the vertical height will be accomplished with layers of tape in strategic non-wearing locations acting as shims.

The fence kit will have hardware to capture the UHMW slides so you won’t have to change any shims or lose your slides when you swap fence extrusions.

For maximum precision a machined fence extrusion from VSC can be purchased.

To minimize my cost and shipping, I will only provide the T-square and hardware required to finish the fence. A buyer would have to source their own fence extrusion and rail material. Measuring, drilling and nutsert installation will be required to make an aluminum rail.

My T-square should be compatible with a steel Biesemeyer rail but may need adjustment.

This fence will be mostly designed for Wixie style digital readouts, measuring tapes on your rail may need to be removed. If you prefer a tape, I’ll let you figure that out.

There will be an optional kit for a hook to capture the back of the fence and prevent the extrusion from lifting. Fitting that will require adding an aluminum back rail with a slot cut by the table saw.

A Euro style option may be offered, I’m not sure what Euro style is designed to accomplish but if I figure it out and it makes sense, I can do that.

This fence will not be particularly easy to install and set up, a set of feeler gauges and a dial caliper are recommended for accurate setup. An accurately installed and adjusted rail is required too, the more precision you can put in to drilling your holes, the easier it will be for you to dial in your rail.

The fence kit will be sold as-is, no returns but I will correct any mistakes that originate on my end.

Pricing will aim for materials plus $50 an hour. My overhead will come out of the $50.

Delivery time will vary. I will schedule production runs so buyers will know where their fence is in process. If demand is low, production runs may be infrequent. If demand is good, batches might come out every week. If demand is huge, that is a good problem for me.

Payment will be by USPS postal money order, no PayPal, no credit card.

Payment will not be accepted until your order is processed and you have a spot in a production run.
