Has anyone noticed something odd going on with their project comments?
Yesterday, my watchlist showed that I had a new comment from tdv posted on my latest project, but when I went to the project that comment wasn't there. This morning, something like 12 hours later, the comment is finally there.
I might chalk this up to a freak occurrence, except that now my watchlist is showing a new comment from Topomax Survivor posted 5 hours ago, and it's not there yet either.
Has anyone else seen this happening on their projects?
Hi Charlie, I just checked your project and both comments are there:
tdv: #38 posted 17 hours ago
TopamaxSurvivor: #39 posted 6 hours ago
Are you sure you did scroll down to the bottom of the comment list when you clicked on the link to see your project? All new comments are at the bottom.
OK, Dick & Barb Cain just left a comment on my project, and I got -2- email notification about that 1 comment, so whatever it is that you projects have Charlie, I think I got infected!
Martin: Yes the posts are there. My point is that it took many hours after the posts appeared on my watchlist to actually show up under the project itself.
It was not so much a problem as a curiosity. Normally, if I see by my watchlist that a new comment has been posted on my project, I can follow the link and see it immediately. For the record, I did get a comment this morning on the same project, and it seems to have come through right away like usual.
might be a fluke. but interesting it happened twice. maybe some overload with servers at a given time.
my comment posting has gone back to normal after the last double email notification. would be interesting to keep track of this and see if it's an on going thing, or just a one-of.
Hey, Not sure if anyone on here pays attention to solar flares and coronal emissions from the sun, but for the last week we have been getting pummeled by solar wind, which nocks crazy everything computer and satellite dependent. We are due to get slammed again on the 25th. Just FYI.. usually explains some momentary computer problems like this. My partner and I run a computer consulting business… my source http://www.spaceweather.com
Yep, EPJartisan is right. It's the solar flares and coronal emissions from the sun that's causing all this havoc. Haven't you noticed that communications have been problematic? The discrepancies are especially noticable on weight scales, digital and spring loaded. At least they have reeked havoc on mine . . . .
Not for nothin but has anyone noticed Farmers desk on the Hot projects page? Jistincase did do a fine job however Farmers desk has 2815 views in seven days. This must be a vewing record and I can't really figure out how this piece drew so much instant attention. Or did it. Interesting?
That reminds me of the time I was working as a Cisco System engineer and that we frequently received customer complains about freak accidents on their equipment. We told them that it was solar flares and they would not believe us.
We sent them to a survey made by Nasa and IBM which showed that solar flares are here all the time and that they cannot be stopped and that they create havoc on all electronic equipment and especially on memories.
I've noticed the same situation for a long time Charlie. It seems to come and go. I figured its some kind of replication issue between servers. Somebody writes to one server, which logs the alert and then you wind up reading from another.
It's all speculation on my part, but I agree, at times it gets alot worse.
I too have experienced this in the last week only. I've gone to some posting on my watch list and found comments that I was not notified about. Later I received the notification.
Also, I've noticed on a couple of posting that the "viewed" number is all over the place - up and down. One project by (not sure I should say who) but it was a rocket ship. 6800+ views overnight. Then down to 3000+ then up then down.
I think some of the people are right, it's solar flares and nocturnal emissions.
When that happens, refresh. You are viewing a stored image on your computer. When you refresh it will bring up the new posts on the page.
I had to teach my wife to do this on several of her websites.
Thanks Chuck - I did see that. But Don made a comment about it coming and going. and I was simply noting that it was happening currently to some extent. I initially thought it may just be something I was seeing on my PC due to a bad data feed until others noted it also on the posts I was looking at.
Thanks Chuck
Dallas - thanks but its not a stored image when I go to the post and see all the new stuff posted with no notification and the view count is all over the map and everyone is seeing the same thing. But otherwise I'm with you. I've fallen into the trap of not refreshing and playing catchup.
Agree with Dallas. I've had to use the Refresh button for a number of things.
IE: I edit a Comment, save it , the NEW ONE should show up but the Old one shows up until I hit the refresh Button.
The same thing if I post a New Comment on something I saw in a Forum. I go back to that forum, NOT by Back Spacing. By Choosing Forums and going to that one. No change in Position or Last Post. Refresh … Nope! Stays the same. Maybe 10 or so minutes later it has Updated.
JayT: Same thing here 3 in the last 2 Weeks. All 3 were originals. No Edits. Next time on, usually the following day. Gone. Not in my Activity Log either.
