I just purchased a used Delta 50-850. Do I need cyclone to improve the efficiency of the dust collector?

I think what your talking about is a Thien separator. Just do a search for Phil Thien and he has the info and also a forum for this.

To clarify.
When I used the term “cyclone” I was referring to any of the devices such as the Dust Deputy and Clearvue.

They definitely make a difference. With the cyclone in line, it will keep your filters cleaner for a longer time. Not to mention keeping flying chunks of wood away from the impeller.
