I hate to say it, but no matter what filter you put in front of your AFS, you’ll still be breathing too much of the fumes. Best to wear a NIOSH mask, in addition to whatever you put on your AFS. The benefit you’ll get from your AFS though is that if the room itself is enclosed, it will help remove some of the volatile chems.
If there is no commercial product, I have an idea… charcoal used for fish tank filters! Build an encloseable cartridge where the air must pass through (seal around sides) but ensure you don’t restrict flow too much. In most systems, if you restrict airflow, restrict the OUTFLOW, not the INFLOW, though yuor air filtration system may require special setups.
