I would check the parallelism between the miter slots and blade before going any further. Then align your fence to the slots, A dial indicator with a miter slot mount is worth the money for setting up a table saw. wouldn’t be a bad time to check your arbor too. I am not crazy about chasing thousandths but the more accurate you can get the better. If burning is still an issue i would check your fence for straightness and your fence rail for squareness.

I’ve tried but the problem disappears then shows up elsewhere.

Fridge- You’re wasting your time bud. Guy will never get it. He would rather waste $5 here and $5 there and countless hours, on restoring a cheap plane and sell it for $7, rather than $50 and sell it for $100+.

I’d rather spend more money and profit enough to buy $2k worth of premium tools (Like I did).

Beating a dead horse my friend. The guy is a lost cause. Better off letting it go, just become a lurker like I did. Much easier. :)

Lol. I feel like the past 4 years on this site have been a social media experiment. For years I was the only one who would call the dude out on his “you’re all snobs” BS. I was baffled by that.

Unfortunately, he probably loves this thread. I’ve never seen a grown man who so desperately craves attention.

I love the people on LJs but (sorry Cricket) spamdit’s crap wouldn’t fly on the vast majority of well-moderated forums. I’ve been on woodbarter, woodnet….and others. Their moderaters squelch guys like that in no time.

So, we all block him and start our own threads. Worked for me. I just hate to see him run off the real talent we can learn from… like lateraus.

I hate people that listen to some puke and believe every word he says.

Just sayin.

What’s so funny about your comment is the baited part. Just like your boy bandit. You just came out and admitted you were trolling when in fact that was what you were railing against. Can you be anymore hypocritical?

Waste of time, Fridge.

I don’t care what tools someone works with – if it gets them the results they want, it’s all cool. He likes his vintage, which is all fine and dandy (I like my vintage, too). He’s occasionally the source of useful info, too.

The problem is the constant attitude – from the incessant condescension towards those that choose to spend money on new tools (or even towards those that simply defend one’s right to spend their own money however they see fit) to the sullen, passive-aggressive posts directed at others for no good reason (like his attitude directed at Mos because none of his pics were included in the calendar or his recent scorn of summerfi because he didn’t immediately respond with a saw sharpening price quote to a question that was posed not via email, but on a forum thread on a holiday weekend[!]).

I guess that I’ll leave it at this – it’s not worth the time to go after him, but it’s certainly worth it to speak up when he sours the community. Honestly, when I first starting posting here, I was shocked that so much of his antics went unchecked and I’m sure that that apathy is what fostered the current, weird state of things. But let’s try to keep it positive – if he’s a pleasant, helpful member of the community, it’s all good; when he’s surly, counter-productive distraction, continue to (as politely as possible) point it out in the hopes that others will speak up, resulting in a change in attitude or a change in scenery.
