I bought a used DJ-15 and the cutter guard does not operate smoothly. Enough so that it does not spring back over the cutter head.
I’m trying to find information on how to clean/lubricate this so it works properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Dj-20, but I think the guard setup is the same. You can loosen the top Allen bolt, and twist the black part above the guard. Use vice grips and a cloth rag. Once you increase the tension adequately, re-tighten the Allen bolt.

If you ever need to remove the guard, don’t loosen the top bolt! Instead loosen the Allen bolt on the front side. This allows you to remove the whole guard stem. When you reinstall the guard, no further adjustment is needed.

A little WD -40 around the spring improves the action.
