Topic tags/keywords: castor cabinet drawers

Hello all, I’m working with a friend to make a set of drawer sliders. A smaller 37×42” set for my 4runner and a larger 6’ x 45” for his truck.

The drawers will house some very heavy equipment. Rather than use traditional sliders, which become very expensive for the required weight rating and length, I would instead like to use recessed castors on the top and bottom of the drawer cabinet. I’ll then add some small skateboard casters on the sides of the drawers to keep the alightment straight, and allow for smoother operation.

I’m struggling to find the recessed parts I need at an affordable price. I’ve looked at products such as this one.

And this one.

Can anyone suggest something similar they’ve had success with in the past? I’ll be using 3/4” marine grade plywood as my building matrial. I’m also fine with losing some vertical height with the castor, but I’d prefer to not sacrifice more than 1” of space between the drawer bottom and the bottom
of the slider cabinet.
