The new Uni does have a riving knife, but I’m not sure what it’ll do for you that your GI won’t….they’re not all that different. Is that the 50-260LM1? If I was making a change like that, I’d go for the Saw Stop.

Hi Ken,

I have had the new Delta Unisaw for about 1 year now w/Bessimyer fence/table/storage drawer. I have it on the Delta mobile base. I could go into a lot of details about why I like it but do not have the time right now. I do not have any complaints at all and will recomend it to you based on my experience. I should also mention that I have never used or owned the European style saws with the built in sliding table but they do look interesting to me.

a little more history is that the jet served me well but I found what I thought would be my last saw – the GI – at what I thought was a good price but it wasn’t such a deal all the way around – 2 years ago the motor started having spool up issues with the dado set, now it has spool up issues with a plain old blade – motor is tanking – new motor from GI is $450 – it will be the same old crappy motor – mounts are narrower than the standard mounts (read mounts that will fit a US made motor – I have a lot of work to do for me and I am always picking up side work – I want/need my last saw…

I would also go for the Saw Stop, or a European style slider.

Hey Ken,

just was wondering if you have thrown grizzlys table saws into the picture? Not to be a killjoy of the group, I do own one of grizzlys biggest table saws they make the G0605x. If your not worried about moving your table saw around on a mobile base cause this thing you won’t, I would reccomend this saw. I have used a unisaw before, was an ok saw. But if you have already went through two saws that would be unacceptable to me. My grizz has a 5hp motor that yea I guess is a over sea motor but performs like a Swiss motor. Before I dished out what I did for the saw that I own I looked at powermatic saw stop and even weinig’s big slider saws. I just couldn’t see that much more saw for the price difference. By all means this is just my opinion, and do know people who wouldn’t even dare to buy grizzly. Bumber for them.
