1.5 years ago, I upgraded my G1029’s filter to an unknown pleated model (from the Grizzly tent sale for $20) The size matched and I expanded my ring clamp successfully with parts from a fly swatter. (the part of the filter that wraps around the DC is thick rubber, which adds to the circumference a bit.)

1 year ago I had trouble removing it, but it was difficult.

Now, it’s pretty much impossible. I have developed lame and largely ineffective techniques to clean it out without removing it. It seems that the rubber has shrunk a bit.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

A picture of the difficulty may help us see what the problem could be.
