Topic tags/keywords: grizzly g0478 vega u50 shop fox

The saw came with a Shop Fox fence. I’m would like to add extension legs and rails. I would also like a more accurate fence. I’ve read some very positive reviews about the Vega system but I’m unable to tell if it would work on my Grizzly Table Saw. The Vega Utility 50 was designed for contractors saws and smaller cabinet saws. The Grizzly is a hybrid so I would consider it a smaller cabinet saw. Does anyone out there have any knowledge about this.
THanks
Angela

Most likely this fence will work with your saw. For most fence systems, the critical dimensions are the size of the cast iron table (particularly the front to back measurement) on your saw since they usually actually mount to the table. It is possible that you would have to drill some mounting holes in the cast iron top of your saw for it to work. I would check with the manufacturers of the VEGA system and if possible, get a copy of the installation instructions. Of course, you could also check with Grizzly also.

I am not familiar with the VEGA system, but for my money, it is awful hard to beat the good old Biesmeyer fence system and it can be mounted on virtually any full sized saw.

Where I work, we sell Vega Fences. I have been seriously disappointed with the Vega Fences lately. They move over left or right when you tighten them, and their milling has been only so-so recently.

Not too long ago I priced out a Biesemeyer after-market fence for somebody and it worked out to be about $20 more than the Vega. I would go with a Biesemeyer because I have not seen their quality drop. I have one on my saw in fact. You should look for a Delta/Porter Cable/Dewalt service center in your area if you are interested.

Thanks for the info but I know the Vegas 50 with rails is 350. I thought Biesemeyer were about 450 to 550?

Here’s one I found. I actually purchased a shop fox rails and legs for 150 but it’s junk so I’m returning it. The Vega is 330 out the door. That’s the most I can spend yes a Biesemeyer Fence would be great but on a fixed income it’s not happening at this price. Biesemeyer Fence BC50 Biesemeyer Commercial Fence – Single Point – Gray (Includes 78-200 (42” Fence) and 78-150 (50” Guide Set) and 78-993 Legs) = $459.99
Thanks for the info on the Vega Fences. I read the reviews on Amazon and thought it would be the best way to go. I currently have a Shop Fence and I hate it.
Thanks for the help
