Topic tags/keywords: question finishing

I was recommended not to use linseed oil finish on furniture that comes in prolonged contact with paper or linen. The oil they say will bleed into paper. What about Watco Danish Oil (or similar products), which is not pure oil but a mixture that is supposed to dry and harden completely?

Wax or Shellac would solve that issue. Also Poly or Varnish. Most oils are a wood treatment and not a top coat.

Barring a top coat my personnal favorite is pure Tung Oil, takes a good long time but when its dry; its dry.

Have your say...
