I’m interested in forming a wooden/traditional boat building group here in the Polk County/Lakeland area of Florida where I now live. There are two such active groups north & south of Tampa but essentially just too far away for me to actively and realistically participate in from my home area. And unfortunately there’s no groups nearby. I am an experienced amateur woodworker but I have no experience with wooden boat building other than the “book knowledge” on the subject which I’ve thus far acquired. Is there anyone in this region of FL that would be interested in forming a group? Please contact me if you are located in this area and have interest. Thanks.
Ed

Place ads on your local Craigslist and maybe local newspaper.

papadan, thanks for your reply and suggestions. Much appreciated. I’ve already done that. I’ve posted to the WB forum, craigslist, Facebook, the TSCA FB page, Crystal River FL boat builders group, Yahoo small boatbuilding group, all with no success thus far. I’ve been at this for a bit. The folks at TSCA (very nice people) were kind and gracious enough to also send out some targeted emails and physical postcard mailings to members in the region who are TSCA members. But as I said no results thus far. It just could be that there really is no interest at all in this region of FL. We’ll see. I suppose with each passing search initiative to locate interested people my hopes for success diminish. But will keep trying.
Happy Woodworking.
