Topic tags/keywords: makita lp2501 tool for sale

If you need a brand new in the box planer blade set (main & auxiliary) for a LP2501 or LP2503, let me know. $125 (includes shipping anywhere in the US).

I love poking through old machine shops and tool stores. I ran across a set of planer blades for a Makita LP2501 “super surfacer” a couple days ago. I was planning on using them for a project, but since they appear to be pretty rare, I figured I’d see if anyone needs them first.

If you haven’t seen this thing in action, it’s worth watching the video.

Apparently these “super surfacers” get used a lot for visible interior structural timbers in Asian architecture. They put a REALLY smooth finish on the wood, because the plane blades are fixed and skewed. The Makita is apparently pretty rare since according to one source I found, “after they decided to discontinue them in the US, the Japanese home office ordered all the remaining unsold units destroyed.”

So, a for sale posting and a tidbit on a pretty cool looking tool.

I’m interested in your Makita blade set for the LP2501.

If you’ve got the right items, it should consist of two blades, one is the upper “chip cutter” blade which has a curved part that rests on the edge of the other “main cutter” blade.

Can you check that please and if you have the complete set, you can send me an email to:

Let’s hear it for lumberjocks and some great search engine optimisiation! If you type in LP2501, the very first listing that comes up is my for sale post. Woohoo! I’m at the top of a google search… And the second result is my sawmillcreek post… Google dominance!
