Not one of the smartest things I ever did (or one of the dumbest) but when I was a young woodworker and the boss was away we used to get the longest extension cords we could find and have belt sander races across the shop.

Don, my first and only experience at Belt Sander Racing was to tape the trigger in the On position, attach a 100 foot extension cord to a Jr. High wood shop belt sander (an old heavt Porter Cable).
We then lined it up in the middle of a long hallway, plugged it in, and dashed back into the shop while it ran down the hallway, beating and banging on the walls of other classrooms till it fell on it’s side, running at full speed. All the while, kids spilled out of the other classrooms to see what was making all the noise. Fortunately, we were never caught.
