Hello
I want to buy ( or perhaps thanks to Santa !!) a new band saw to make some BS boxes

What is the better capacity ?

I have seen the metabo 318 with 170 mm . Is it enough?

Thanks for your advice.

Not being an expert by any means and not metric educated, I think 170mm ==17 cm—if that is right, it gives just over 6-1/2 inches which is pretty good capacity. I have had 3 bandsaws all much less capacity than that. All were very used when I acquired them and I am currently without one.

Buy the best quality one that you can afford, do the research on the blade carriers and get the best ones right away.

I will not buy a middle of the line or under BS again unless it is a very lightly used estate sale or similar situation and then at a very good price too.

Hope this helps a little.

Good luck in your search Jack. There are lots and lots of good bandsaws out there. You’ll just have to pick one.
