low angle or regular?

I am in the market for a good quality block plane. I am not sure whether to go with a low angle or regular plane. I do a wide variety of hand planing. Any advice on makes and types of planes.

If you are only going to own one I would go for the low angle. Just does a better job on end grain

Mine is an old Stanley Bailey. If I was going new and money no object I would get the lie Nielsen rabbet block with knickers.
