Just found an 8” Grizzly jointer on Cragslist! I need a jointer and an 8” would be excellent!

The ad states:
“1995 8”x65” Heavy Duty Jointer model #G1018,has 3Knives ,220 single phase,1 1/2 hp motor,with mobile stand”

They are asking $350 for it. Seems like a good deal to me, or is it a little high? I am finding other newer 6” jointers nearby for nearly the same price.

Here is the only photo. You can see the table is rusted but that shouldn’t be an issue should it?

What do you guys think?

If it is in good condition, this looks like a very good deal to me.

You should check the movement of the fence, check to see if the infeed and outfeed tables are parallel (or if they can be adjusted to parallel) , check the movement of the infeed table and check the condition of the motor, belt and blades.

Of course belts and blades are easy to replace. The light rust should not be hard to take care of.

Paid $350 for a 6 inch Jet jointer 4 months ago and I’m still very happy with the price after searching Craigslist and ebay over the months.
Minot rust is no problem. Make sure all components are working, and the motor is sound. $350 for an 8 inch jointer, so you get it for $300-325?
I would say go for it.

Well after talking the seller, we settled on a price of $300, not bad in my opinion. He said that there was one hold up, the jointer is on a trailer and they needed to find a place to plug it in. (This makes me feel better because they wanted to be sure I could see it run before I bought it) He calls me back and lets me know that he has it figured out and we can hook it up in the morning and hear it run.

All sounds good and as of right now I am buying my new to me jointer in the morning for $300 and it’s an 8”! I’m excited!

Thank you all for you replies.
