Topic tags/keywords: motor repair tablesaw question

Hi, I am a new woodworker who has been setting up a woodshop. I have a fairly new (March 2016) Delta table saw. I was cutting some thin wood and the motor stopped moving and started humming.

I tried tapping it with a hammer, pushing the reset button while it was running (humming), plugging it into a different circuit.

I know NOTHING about motors. I’m not sure what to do next.

Probably an easy fix and there are several things you can test to determine the problem, but since it’s new, it should still be under warranty. Best bet would be to just have it fixed/replaced under warranty. If that isn’t an option, then we can shift to how to test and find out what is wrong.

Cheers,
Brad

Delta has a 5yr warranty. Are you the original owner?
