I am novice making wooden toys. Using white wood and western cedar, Would like to put finish on them to help seal them and not show hand prints – kids playing with them, etc, Plan to sell toys if possible and want something safe but will keep the wood look. Any suggestions

I’ve put shellac on all the wooden toys I make for my son. It is safe and more durable than many give it credit for. Keeps out drool, milk and other gooey stuff. Just can’t clean them with alcohol or ammonia. A quick wipe with soapy water or even water with vinegar cleans them just fine.
