hello fellow lumberjocks. i’m new at woodworking and with the few projects that i’ve done i have found this site to be useful and a wealth of knowledge. how ever i have a new house and the individual that designed the family room should kicked in the knee. i have a fireplace that is unevenly placed by design. but i have adapted a entertainment center that i saw a store to surround the fireplace a built in. but i’m not sure where to go from there i have two books on cabinet building but very vague. does anyone have any suggetsions on books that i buy or get a library to continue on, or any suggestions where to start. also any good choices of wood to use. thanks in advance for the input

Robert Lang has a great book on designing & building cabinets, among others.
