For the second straight year, I purchased a Veritas plane from Lee Valley on Cyber Monday. Last year was a no 6 and this year it’s a no 4. I have quite the fleet of planes but I’m always looking for more.
The planes they offer at a discount are factory seconds. They may be imperfect but I can’t find the flaw on either of them.
I have several other Veritas planes purchased at full retail. They are very high quality, user friendly tools.
I don’t know if I’m lucky getting good factory seconds, or if they’re just all this nice.
Has anyone else gotten any of these?
If you have, can you find the flaw?

Last year I bought a skew block plane with a PMV11 blade. There was a tiny tiny scratch on the wood on the fence for it. It was a great deal.

Was hoping for a Shooting plane this year but there were none available. So full price it is. LOL.

I’ve purchased only one Veritas blem and it was a dovetail saw. Had to look hard to find the blemish on the handle. Tiny, subtle thing but I got a good discount and a good tool. I have a feeling that if a defect was anything more than insignificant, LV simply wouldn’t let it out the door.
