I use an old off brand jointer (6” dovetail style) and cannot track down the manufacturers recommended knive size reccomendations. I measured the existing knives while still installed and ended up with an inaccurate measurement, ordered new knives and now have new knives that don’t exactly match in size.

Existing knives are: 6 1/16” x 11/16” x 1/8”

I ordered: 6” x 5/8” x 1/8”

The length Im not worried about as it looks like 6” will fit better anyway and the thickness is the same however they are about 1/16” short.

Would anyone advise against using these knives?

A Freud C400 set would probably be a better choice… 6-1/8” X 11/16” X 1/8”
There is also a set from Powertec that is a bit cheaper – same dimensions. The 5/8” ones you ordered will work… they are just a bit shorter in height and length.

Cheers,
Brad

You may have to shim them to get them high enough. Depends on how much adjustability there is in your cutterhead. You can put them in and see if you can get them set.
