I just noticed this place a few days ago – saw someone refer to it on another forum. After a look around I decided I’d fill in a profile and hang out a bit. LJ has a bit of a different feel from some of the other forums I’ve visited, and it looks like a huge amount of material to investigate. I see I’m going to be losing valuable shop time roaming through the projects and posts here :-) I’ve posted a couple of projects and was flaberghasted at the rapid number of responses. This place must have a huge population, and a very active one too by the looks of it. I also see a few names here that I’ve come accross in other places as well, which is nice to see. Anyway, I just thought I’d say hi. Cheers, -- Alberta, Canada |

Thanks for the welcome. Karson -groan – you may make me rethink this place :-) (Just kidding) Zuki – I did see the box and 2×4 contest but I have a question – does it have to be something made just for the contest, or can it just be something made recently? I did a couple of boxes last year that I’d consider entering one, but if it’s only supposed to be projects built for the contest I don’t think I will have time. Kerry -- Alberta, Canada |

Kerry . . . here is the link to the contest – http://lumberjocks.com/awards/winter_2008 Not Just Any Box – There are boxes and then there are “boxes”. Whether you are a beginning woodworker or a skilled craftsman, a box can provide a challenge to bring your woodworking skills to a new level by mixing technique with artistry. It’s time to “step out of the box” and create “not just any box”. Entries for this category are to be boxes with dimensions (height, width, depth), each not to exceed 18 inches / 45.72 centimeters. I cant seem to find the blog regarding questions on the contest. I believe it would be eligible. Can someone help Kerry out? -- The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them |
