Does anyone have experience with using half-lap joints for workbenches? I saw that Megan Fitzpatrick used them in here knock-down, Roubo style bench that she and Chris Schwarz made with LVL lumber. I was planning on using half-lap joints with glue and screws for a more permanent build instead of carriage bolts and nuts for a knock-down style bench. I have the lumber stacked and stickered in my garage and I’m ready to start squaring, planing, and rough cutting it. Cheers!

I used half lap on 3 of my work benches and on my lumber rack. Works fine for me

I remember looking through some old projects and seeing this guy’s bench:

Looks like he used finger joints but I’m thinking the strength/stability would be similar. You could ask him how it’s holding up.

I have made two bolt-together, knock-down benches with half-lap joints and they worked great. Let us see how your bench progresses!
