Topic tags/keywords: sword case backet

I am trying to design a display case for a sword that belongs to a friend’s son. He got the sword while attending a military academy. The case is easy. However, I am having difficulty with the brackets to hold the sword in the case. He wants to be able to easily remove the sword from the case. Does anyone have a design or pattern for something like this they would be willing to share. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at dozens of pictures but have not been able to get something that looks good.

Thanks
John

Think about using magnets under felt on the wood pieces that will hold the sword. I would put a ledge upon which the sword would sit. Just some ideas to think about.

Nathan, thanks for the idea. I think I have come up with something similar that will work.
Tyvekboy, thanks for the idea. I think I am going to use the magnet idea to hold the lid closed.
