Instead of searching on GOOGLE, why don’t you try using the search box on LJs.

With all of the contributions to all kinds of info, LUMBERJOCKS has it all.

Whenever I use GOOGLE, it seems like there’s always a posting from LUMBERJOCKS listed.

So why not get your best answers from LUMBERJOCKS very own SEARCH BOX FIRST.

With over 20,000 LUMBERJOCKS, There’s an awful lot of info right here.

TRY IT, YOU’LL LIKE IT!!!

Thanks for the reminder. I use the search here on LJ’s prettey regularly. In fact I try to remember to do it as I design every new project.

Got into the shop some this weekend. Kind of a recovery weekend. Routing some slots in my new project table top/jig. After all the abuse I give my old project tables, one end of the legs gave way, a first in over 20 years. I checked it out and found out that two screws had worked their way out, and the rest couldn’t hold the weight I put on it. So the screws yanked out of the wood, but no damage to the legs. I am going to upend each of the tables and check the screws, and substitute some bolts and nuts in stategic positions. Think I will make a short blog out of this.

Have a good day, Dick. Nice to read that Alistair is up and at it again. Some day I am going to PM him about the accident. He’s got me scared of lathes, now. 51 deg at 0620 hrs here….......we are in a rain funk….....rats.

I agree Dick and when you look at the times on some of the Google links that may be as soon as an hour old.

So the google links are being updated almost instantly from LumberJocks.

Martin has hit a winner on getting LJ into the google search database very fast.

Hi Jim,
We finally made it to our cabin yesterday. We finally had a rain free day, most of today.
We’re gradually hauling some supplies up there, & plan on staying their until mid October.
70 deg right now, 9:38AM CDT with a high of 84.

I’ve been the same way as you Karson, but I plan on using LJs more now.

i prefer the LJ search from the google one because the results are far more interesting, but what bothers me with the LJ search is that it doesn’t remember your settings.
say if you search for “assemble table” in the project category, and visit one of the results and come back you need to reset the category each time otherwise it lists every result.
it’s particularly annoying when searching through the result pages.

Greedo!

If Martin sees this complaint, he may be able to fix it.

Yeah, it’s really great. But how do you make it go straight to showing thumbnails all on one page? Kinda like when you go to projects page.

I often have better luck using Google’s search engine than the one here at Lumberjocks. The trick is to tell Google to only return results from this site. Here are a couple examples of how I might enter “targeted” searches:

Projects Only:
end grain cutting board site:lumberjocks.com/projects

Forum Topics Only:
work bench site:lumberjocks.com/topics

It may not be the end-all, be-all, but a lot of people don’t realize just how customizable and powerful Google’s search bar really is. There is a lot of hidden potential.

I might add that using the google method above, you can also switch and browse by images, something which LJ search cannot do.

Thanks Steve!

I’ve never searched for LJs on Google’s image search before.
