Hi,

So I have a question in regards to types of wood. I’ve got this table and I’m wondering what type of wood it is. Could someone please shed a little light on the subject? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hard to tell. Looks like pecan.

Could it be ancient kauri wood? I’ve looked at multiple types of wood grain and that seems about as close as I’ve seen. Not trying to get my hopes up, but would just like to know for sure.

Could be any of many close-grained hardwoods. The problem is that the grain pattern is complicated by the knots and it is perhaps near a crotch. Also, the color is unreliable because the varnish may be dark and the wood may have been stained. Have you checked the underside of the top? That might be easier to judge by.
