Topic tags/keywords: question drill press modern

My main interest is making small boxes.
I’ve tried to use barrel hinges but am struggling to get the hole dimensions correct.
Does anyone have any expertise on this?

There are so many kinds of barrel hinges out there.

I assume yours are the hidden kind where each side of the barrel is drilled into the corrosponding box part.

A horizontal boring machine is nice but few can afford such luxuries. I make a jig and use a drill press.

Again, the hole dia., would depend upon the hinge. A set of calipers would give you the right dia to drill.

regardless of the hinge they are a PITA to install. A trial and error method works for me.

Good Luck

Your description matches the type of hinge I’ve tried.
Its setting the depth that is proving difficult for me.
