Topic tags/keywords: level antique

I got this little gem for 15 dollars at my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Its a cast iron Davis Patent M.W. Robinson level. It has a lot of its original japanning, none of the spirit levels are cracked, the plaster holding in the glass is in mint condition. The only flaw is a crack on the top, which I don’t think will be too big a problem, as its not a tool that is under stresses like a hand plane would be.

Very nice level, Benjamin. It looks like someone got a little too aggressive tightening that screw and cracked the casting. Is that a 12” or something a bit longer? It resembles a 12” Starrett I have.

Nice. I think Don is probably right about the crack.
