Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw set up

Got a Grizzly bandsaw a few months back.

I am starting a project where i need to do some resaw work. Today, I tried to resaw and had significant drift. So I used the Snodgrass video on youtube to set my saw up again.

Here is the trouble. When I have the guidepost high and set up the saw, all is good. When I lower the guidepost,, the back bearing moves away from the blade. I looked in the manual, and basically, it says to put a metal shim where the guide post attaches to the frame of the saw. I tired using a metal washer, but that was too much. I don’t have anything smaller and can’t find any shims for sale. Also, it’s very difficult to even get your fingers into that area.

Has anyone else had this issue? How did you resolve it? Where do you find these mysterious shims?

Any help appreciated.

You can google brass shim stock and/or you can use pieces of an aluminum can.

Have your say...
