Topic tags/keywords: pencil post bed jig help question bed post

I’m a new member and this is my first posting. I’m really impressed with the quality and relevance of the material that I have viewed thus far. By far, it’s the most informative and interesting site I have visited.

I am currenly planning to build several pencil post beds and I am looking for a shop-built jig that I can use to saw out the legs. ( 3 1/2 inches square). I’m interested in a jig for a band saw or a table saw. I have been searching for the jig that was designed by Charles Neil but it seems that his plans/video has been removed from each site that I have visited. I’m open to any other suitable design of jig. I’d appreciate any help or suggestions.

Start with Youtube. I saw some short videos there, and you could trace to the poster and possibly get help. Also Charles Neil at charlesneilwoodworking.com builds these beds and has post, I believe. Great guy! Drop him email and he will steer you. Lige

I own this book and it provides very good advice on making a pencil leg bed, including how to make the jig.
