Topic tags/keywords: yellow amber pine conditioner sealer

Unfinished pine, medium-to-dark stain, tried 2 brands of conditioners, blotching continues.
Do not want yellowing over time (planning on using lacquer in lieu of poly).
I’ve been advised to try sealer prior to staining, but I’m not sure if this yellows over time.
What are your expert suggestions to prevent blotching that do not yellow?

A water based clear top coat finish thinned 3-4 to 1 with water. Apparently you are applying some color, otherwise blotching wouldn’t be an issue? This may help.
