Topic tags/keywords: craftsman bench grinder electrical schematic diagram wiring

Hi,

My Craftsman 8” Bench Grinder has suffered major electrical failure due to the speed control knob crapping the bed, and while taking it apart, I broke some pins on the speed control board. So, in order to repair it properly, I’ll have to replace the circuit board and the potentiometer, which I know I can do, but I’m not sure it’s worth the time, money, and trouble, so I’d rather bypass the speed control circuitry and just have it turn on/off and operate at one speed (the potentiometer only worked in one position anyway, so consequently I was only able to operate the grinder at one speed).

If anyone has a schematic diagram for this bench grinder, or if you know where I can find one (I’ve done a quick Internet search, but was unable to find it yet), I would really appreciate it if you could help me get one.

Thanks,
Joe U

Aren’t there just two wires leading to/from the board or dial switch running to the windings? Just put a toggle switch at the ends of those and see what you get. You may have to solder some longer pigtails on to them but it should be easy even without a schematic.

Have your say...
