I needed some hinges to complete a project that has to go out this weekend. I had thought I had some but it turns out I had already used them. I ran into town to the nearest Woodcraft but they were not open yet so I brilliantly thought I’d hit a big box store. I found some similar to what I normally use at half the price and thought “SCORE”. I got back to the shop and installed them on the cabinet. Turns out there is to much slop at the pin and now the door is sagging. LESSON LEARNED! I will never use Hickory Hardware again. It’s not worth the headache. Now I’m going to head back to Woodcraft.

Yea I hear ya. As I tell my boys as I’ve learned….some of life’s lessons are hard. I really like extruded hinges for doors so I know they won’t play. They cost more but they are worth it. Good luck on the project.

Extruded or not? How do you tell?
