Hi All,
This is my first post and I’m hoping somebody can help me out. I bought one of those el-cheapo 6” disc/belt sanders at Harbor Freight Tools. Since I am a casual woodworker, I felt this would be enough to suffice my needs. I’m having issues with the two dustports on this thing. They are odd sizes and if the belt sander is in the horizontal position, that port is just to the side of the motor. I use my 20 gallon ShopVac as my dust collector and I have a few reducers for smaller outlets, but none of them work on this machine. Does anyone else have one of these sanders and what did you rig up to collect the resultant dust?
Thank you for any input you can provide.

I have a older model and it doesn’t have the dust port on the belt end. The dust port on the plastic shroud of the disc I cut it out and modified it by adding a 4” port to fit my dust collector. You could do the same to change the disc port to a more standard size to fit you shopvac. I can’t comment on the belt port because that looks like it’s metal built into the frame by the picture on HarborFreight. I added a 4” dust port on the belt end using the mounting hole for the table since I don’t use it in the vertical position much at all.

This is what You can use to modify the disc port…. http://www.rockler.com/universal-dust-port
