I made a new friend indirectly through Ljs today . He told me he was interested in a Gilliom band saw. I said I’d never heard of that brand . Later he sent me this link . I thought it was really interesting and thought you guys might like it.

Thanks Daniel

A friend of mine in my office build one of the bandsaws about 40 years ago. I made one of the 6” sanders. The owner of the company lived in St Charles Mo, I lived in Florissant Mo about 20 miles away. We drove over to his office to pick up the parts.

The owner was a machinist at McDonald’s They built the F4 Phantom aircraft during the Vietnam war. I still have the sander. I don’t use it any more but it has a lot of miles on it, and a lot of sanding belts across the surface.

They were great tools. I don’t know anything about the new owner.

Interesting Karson I’ve seen those type of ads in older magizines but did’nt have a clue before today. Thanks for adding to the details. If your sanders is where you can get to it a photo would be cool.

Wow, this is so cool. I had never heard of Gil-Bilt either. Thanks

Is Daniel on LJ’s?

To me it seems silly to have several 1 hp motors and only use them once in a while. Use the motors for more than one task, two or three at least.

That seems to Be the $64,000 Question Joe. They don’t seem to answer their phone at this point in time.

I kind of hate the idea of looking in the mirror to talk to someone about a warranty issue, though… :)
