Anyone have experience building a “Create A Bed?” I was wondering how many hours that it would take to make and install the bed and accompanying cabinets? I don’t have furniture grade plywood down here so it will be out of solid wood..

It took me approx 4 months, but I’m a novice with basic tools. The rockler plan was spot on, which made the build easy enough. And the create-a-bed hardware is also very good.

It took me a couple of weeks of off and on. lot of it waiting on glue or finish to dry. The plan was good. measurements spot on. I ordered from amazon the hardware came from create a bed same hardware that Rockler has. Price was a little better.

I built one of these several years ago which can be seen in my projects. Using all solid wood instead of plywood will be an entirely different undertaking. The instructions state that plywood is required for strength although there are instructions included to use particle board if I recall correctly. Using the included plans with all solid wood will result in some long cross grain joints that will require some reengineering. Depending upon the wood used there might be some challenges because of the change in weight.
